Scottsbluff
Early Archaic - 10000 - 8000 B.P.

The Scottsbluff point type is part of the Cody Complex which was present across most of North America during the Late Paleo-Early Archaic periods.  The type was first discovered in 1932 at a bison kill site near Scottsbluff, Nebraska and named for that location.  Type I is a longer point with a thicker cross section and weak shoulders.  Type II is shorter and wider with a thinner, more elliptical  cross section.  The Scottsbluff point exhibits a highly skilled level of workmanship.  This is one of my favorite types.  The skill level of the Cody knapper makes a good Scottsbluff a true work of lithic art.
